How much do I enjoy cinema?
My spreadsheet itemizing all 3500+ movies I’ve sat thru in my lifetime is likely proof enough. With my own personal rating included, of course.
As a younger nerd, I’d consume all the “movie books,” read ‘em cover to cover, digging for hidden gems. Leonard Maltin and Golden Retriever were my BFFs. In college, I took every Film class available. I devoured my regular diet of Village Voice, Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly reviews. I compiled lists of my favorite directors & actors. Roger Ebert was my spirit animal.
A quarter century ago, I haunted various NYC cinemas. My DVD collection was carefully curated and alphabetized by title. Recommending flicks to family, friends, and fellow cinephiles is a long pastime of mine.
