Q*Ball is an electronic pop/rock project that existed between 2001 and 2011, featuring Ron Scalzo as the principal songwriter, vocalist and synth player and Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, who co-produced, engineered, and performed guitars on all the songs on three self-released albums and various digital singles. Bumblefoot also contributed his songwriting and vocal talents to the project, and mixed and mastered all the songs, as well.

Various Q*Ball songs were featured on MTV shows including The Real World, Road Rules, Pimp My Ride, Making The Band, The Osbournes, RWRR Battle of the Sexes, and Clone High USA (The “Snowflake Day” episode).  Q*Ball music has also been featured on Red Bull Extreme Sports DVDs and in independent films.

Heavily influenced by ’80s new wave acts like Depeche Mode and Tears For Fears, plus heavier alt-rock acts like Faith No More and White Zombie, Q*Ball’s takeoff inspired Scalzo to start his own record label, Bald Freak Music, in 2005 to release his own albums, and pledging to promote artists who would otherwise be ignored because they don’t fit the major label mold & preconception of what a “pop band” or a “rock act” should look & sound like.
